Write for us
We welcome pitches that help readers notice a specific artistic choice, understand a form or approach a work with useful context. Send proposals through the Contact page, with the reason for writing set to an editorial question or contribution.
What we welcome
We are interested in clear, original writing about visual art, music, theatre, dance and literature. A strong piece may explain a technique, compare distinct formal choices, give context to a tradition or offer readers a thoughtful way to observe a work. The focus should be narrow enough to explore well and useful to a general reader.
What makes a good pitch
Tell us the central question, the work or artistic form you want to discuss, the main point readers will take away and why the subject suits Select Arts Journal. Include a brief note about your approach and any relevant interests. Do not send a full article unless requested; avoid pitches that depend on unsupported claims or assume one interpretation is the only valid one.
How to send it
Use the Contact page and choose the contribution option. The proposal should stand on its own in the message field, with a working title and a short outline. We cannot promise publication or a response by a particular date, and a submitted pitch should not be treated as accepted work.
Art rewards patient attention
A little context can open up a work without settling what it must mean. We look closely, ask useful questions and leave room for different responses.
