Select Arts Journal

Editorial policy

Select Arts Journal aims to make arts appreciation clear, careful and open to more than one considered response. We distinguish what can be observed from what we infer, explain relevant context and correct material errors transparently.

Accuracy and context

We check names, terms, dates and factual context before publication, using suitable sources for the subject. Interpretations are presented as readings, not settled facts. We avoid claiming access, expertise or certainty that a piece cannot support, and we make uncertainty clear when it matters.

Independence and conflicts

Editorial decisions are made for readers and the subject matter, not as a condition of a commercial relationship. Contributors should disclose relevant interests to the editor. A partnership does not guarantee coverage, a positive view or editorial approval.

Corrections

Readers can report a possible error through the Contact page. We review correction requests, verify the point where possible and amend material errors with a clear note when the change affects a reader's understanding. We do not silently change a substantive interpretation.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid, gifted or partner-supported material is clearly labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; these are identified where used. Illustrations support the discussion and are not presented as documentary evidence.

Our point of view

Art rewards patient attention

A little context can open up a work without settling what it must mean. We look closely, ask useful questions and leave room for different responses.
